Whether it's your wedding day or you're attending a special occasion, dressing your best is a natural desire. Besides, when you dress your best, you feel your best and when you feel your best well... the possibilities are endless.
So how do we get you looking your best when it comes to selecting the perfect earrings for you?!
With so many shapes, sizes and styles it can easily become incredibly confusing! From the length of the drop of an earring to the width of the earring. From the shape of the main body of the earring to the style. There are so many things to consider when selecting earrings to suit you. Some earrings are designed with a lot of separate moving elements whilst others are designed to sit in a largely fixed position with movement at very few points. And don't even get me started on studs! There are earrings which are nice to look at BUT just don't sit right when you wear them or look how you imagined.
Let's make the choice making easier for you with this how to guide with only three simple things to keep in mind every time you are seduced by a pair of earrings and want to shop with confidence. These are the three things you need to consider when choosing earrings for your special day!
Earring Tip Number One: FACE SHAPE
Something many of us naturally over look when choosing jewellery and hairstyles to suit us. When did you last think about your face shape when out shopping for a gorgeous new pair of earrings? Have you ever considered this when picking out hairstyles before heading to the hair salon/ hair dressers? Face shape is not something which typically springs to mind BUT it is most certainly the reason why certain earrings have never looked the way you might imagine they would look on you!
Certain styles and shapes of earring are better suited to compliment specific face shapes. You can wear earrings which are not designed to be complimentary to your face but, you will notice the difference when your choices are perfectly in alignment with the shapes and styles which are best suited to your face shape.
So how do you find out which styles suit which face shapes? And how do you figure out what your face shape is?
I have created this separate blog on this topic which supports you through the process of figuring out your face shape and identifying the key features you need to look for in your earrings when choosing the best ones for your face shape!
You can also find out more about face shapes from sources such as Ipsy, Masterclass or you can even use apps such as these to help work out your face shape for you simply select whether you are using Apple or Android.

Tip Top Guide Step Two: NECKLINE
Neckline? You might think what does this have to do with anything? Actually quite a lot!
Just as you would consider the type of necklace you are going to wear based on the neckline of your outfit, considering the neckline of your outfit when choosing your earrings is incredibly important.
Depending on your neckline, certain styles of earring may be best avoided. Imagine a high scoop neck for example, this neckline would be best paired with a flattering hoop shape pair of earrings which end either at or just below your jawline. On the other hand, if you are wearing a deep plunging V neckline, you would want to opt for a pair of earrings with a long drop and a shape that mimics the V shape of your neckline. To give you another example, consider a square neckline. For this type of neckline you would want to avoid wide square shaped earrings or earrings with a lot of prominent angles which will only serve to accentuate the square neckline of your outfit. You may instead want to soften the square edges of your neckline with earrings featuring curves which are generally quite sleek in their design such as a slimline teardrop shape earring or a short drop statement stud featuring many concentric circles.

Tip Top Step Three: HAIRSTYLE
YES! That's right! Your hairstyle has a huge role to play when it comes to how your earrings will look on your special day. The way your dream pair of earrings looks will undoubtedly depend on whether you have gone for a classic and traditional up-do or a more fun and flirty half up half down look or a full glamour free flowing hairstyle!
If the classic and more traditional up-do hairstyle has got your attention, you may want to opt for large statement studs or earrings which are sleek in their design. Your earrings will gently taper downward ideally not below your jawline, with very little fanning or flaring of your earrings. Chunkier earrings can make this look more bold and striking but, be ware they can end up drawing attention to the widest parts of your face (your jawline and cheekbones) without the added benefit of free flowing hair to soften the whole look.
On the other hand if you opt for a softer up-do, anything from statement style hoop shape earrings (with or without moving elements such as Indian jhumka style earrings) or circular shape earrings to short drop slimline earrings will look drop dead gorgeous! You will want to opt for earrings with a drop irrespective of whether this is a long or short drop. The options are similar for a half up, half down hair style.
Perhaps the hairstyle you'll most want to dress down when it comes to earrings is the full on free flowing hair down/ loose hair option. Typically when you have your hair loose any and all earrings are going to end up hidden in your hair unless, pieces of hair close to your ears or the boundary of your face are pinned back. For this hairstyle you will want to select studs which bring a bit of sparkle and shine to your ears and stand out against the tide of your beautiful, luscious locks!
